Advanced Queries

Advanced Queries is a powerful feature in Manager.io that allows you to select, sort, filter, and organize your data on any tabular screen, offering nearly unlimited reporting possibilities. This feature is particularly useful when combined with Custom Fields, enabling customized data management tailored to your business needs.

Accessing Advanced Queries

To access Advanced Queries:

  1. Navigate to the desired tab containing the data you want to query. For example, go to the Sales Invoices tab.

  2. Click on the Advanced Queries dropdown, located in the top-right corner next to the search box.

  3. Select New Advanced Query to start creating a new advanced query.

Creating an Advanced Query

When creating an Advanced Query, you will encounter the following fields:

  • Name: Specify a name for your advanced query for future identification.
  • Select: Choose which columns you'd like to display. Use the arrows to reorder columns as required.
  • Has Where: Enable this option to set up filters and narrow down your list of records based on specific parameters.
  • Has Order By: Enable this option to specify how the results should be sorted.
  • Has Group By: Enable this option to group records by specific columns.

Example: Displaying Sales Invoices Above $1,000

To illustrate how Advanced Queries work, let's create a query to display all sales invoices with an amount greater than $1,000.

  1. Go to the Sales Invoices tab.

  2. Access Advanced Queries:

    • Click on the Advanced Queries dropdown.

    • Select New Advanced Query.

  3. Configure the Advanced Query:

    • Name: Enter a name for your query (e.g., "Invoices Above $1,000").

    • Select: Choose the columns to display:

      • Issue Date
      • Customer
      • Invoice Amount
      • Status
    • Has Where:

      • Check the Has Where checkbox to enable filtering.

      • Set the condition:

        • Field: Invoice Amount
        • Operator: Is More Than
        • Value: 1000

  4. Create the Query:

    • Click the Create button to save your Advanced Query.
  5. View the Results:

    • You will be returned to the Sales Invoices tab.

    • The new Advanced Query will be selected automatically.

    • Only sales invoices where the Invoice Amount is above $1,000 will be displayed.

Editing an Advanced Query

  • To refine or modify your Advanced Query, click the Edit button next to the query's name.
  • Adjust the fields as needed and save your changes.

Advanced Queries in Other Tabs

  • You can create Advanced Queries under any tab in Manager.io.
  • This flexibility allows you to query data across different modules, such as Purchase Invoices, Inventory Items, or Customers.

Combining Advanced Queries with Custom Fields

  • Advanced Queries can be combined with Custom Fields to track and report on specialized data unique to your business.
  • Examples include customer satisfaction scores, specific service types, or any custom data points you have created.
