Account — Investment gains (losses)
The Investment Gains/Losses
account in Manager.io is a built-in account used to record the gains or losses from your investments based on their market prices. This guide explains how to access and customize this account in your Chart of Accounts.
Accessing the Investment Gains/Losses Account
To access and edit the Investment Gains/Losses
account:
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Click on Chart of Accounts.
- Find the
Investment Gains/Losses
account and click the Edit button.
Editing the Account Details
When you click Edit, you'll see a form with the following fields:
Name
- Description: The name of the account.
- Default:
Investment Gains/Losses
- Instructions: You can rename this account to better suit your accounting needs.
Code
- Description: An optional code for the account.
- Instructions: Enter a code if you use account codes for sorting or reporting purposes.
Group
- Description: The group under the Profit and Loss Statement where this account will appear.
- Instructions: Select the appropriate group to organize your financial statements effectively.
Saving Changes
After making your desired changes:
- Click the Update button to save the changes to your Chart of Accounts.
Important Considerations
- Non-deletable Account: The
Investment Gains/Losses
account cannot be deleted. It is automatically added to your Chart of Accounts when you record at least one investment market price.
