Account — Foreign exchange gains (losses)

The CurrencyGainsLosses account in Manager is a built-in account added automatically to your ChartOfAccounts when you have at least one foreign currency enabled. While this account cannot be deleted, you can rename it and adjust how it appears in your financial statements.

This guide explains how to access the account's settings and modify its details.

Accessing the Account Settings

  1. Go to the Settings tab in Manager.
  2. Click on ChartOfAccounts.
  3. Find the CurrencyGainsLosses account in the list.
  4. Click the Edit button next to the CurrencyGainsLosses account.

Account Fields and Options

When you access the edit form for the CurrencyGainsLosses account, you will see the following fields:

Name

  • Description: The name of the account as it will appear in your financial statements.
  • Default: CurrencyGainsLosses
  • Note: You can rename this account to better suit your reporting preferences.

Code

  • Description: An optional code to identify the account.
  • Usage: Enter a code if you use account codes for organization or reporting purposes.

Group

  • Description: Determines under which group this account will appear on the ProfitAndLossStatement.
  • Usage: Select the appropriate group to categorize the account within your profit and loss report.

CashFlowStatementGroup

  • Description: Determines under which group this account will appear on the CashFlowStatement.
  • Usage: Select the appropriate group to categorize the account within your cash flow statement.

Saving Changes

After making the desired changes:

  • Click the Update button to save your changes.

Important Notes

  • The CurrencyGainsLosses account cannot be deleted.
  • It is automatically added to your ChartOfAccounts when you have at least one foreign currency enabled.
